Fish Cheeks
Amy a fourteen year old chinese girl, fell in love with an american boy called Robert, he was the minister's son. Amy's family invited Robert's family to a evening diner.
there was no turkey or sweet potatoes, instead there was tofu and fish. Amy's dad took the cheek from the fish and told her, "do you want it Amy, it's your favorite" so she was embarrassed.
then when the love flew, Amy understood that being how you are makes you special and that you don't need to make other people believe that you're a different person only because of your race.
the setting of the story is at Amy's house, the author of the story is Amy Tan and the main character was Amy.
This short book is worth reading it because it gives a moral that could make you different; and is that you don't have to prove anything to anyone only for being from a different race. this means for me that if a person really loves you, then he or she will accept you the way you are.
Like when amy's mom tells her; " but inside you must always be Chinese.
I would personally recommend this book to people that don't believe in themselves, because it could make them change of opinions.
